Bridges over travelled water

Samaras completes massive Port River Bridges project

Supply of structural steel for the much-anticipated Port River Bridges was completed by Samaras Structural Engineers and delivered on-site by Samaras Cranes in the second half of 2008.

One of SA's largest road projects since the Heysen Tunnels (SE Freeway), the Port River Bridges included a 58m four-lane opening Highway, weighing 2,000 tonnes, and a 65m single-track opening Rail bridge, weighing 1,200 tonnes.

Cranes involved in their delivery and erection ranged from 12 tonne right through to 600 tonne.
